Bugged obsidian and bucket

we were using lava to turn some water into stone. accidentally turned the lava into obsidian but used the bucket to retrieve it. How ever it did not give us the lava back and instead gave us a water bucket, there was no op's or admins on at the time so was unable to do any thing about it and now can not do any thing on the island until we get the lava back.

i don't want to do that as we have gotten quite far in it, just want to get it back as was not our fault it was a bug.

This happened to me too last year before the update.
Relogging fixed it for me, but right clicking with the bucket in a random place also may help.
